Click on the links to learn more about the author and this book. I work in the publishing industry. I began years ago as an intern, photocopying edited manuscripts and secretly snooping the fascinating margin conversations between editors and writers. Currently, I’m vice president and editorial director at Simon & Schuster in Toronto, Canada, where I have the privilege of working with an incredible array of authors and publishing colleagues whom I credit with teaching me, manuscript by manuscript, book by book, the wondrous craft of writing. Goodreads Review of The MaidMolly Gray is not like everyone else. Trader Joe's French Onion Macaroni & Cheese When Chef Dolores was out shopping, she picked up a package of Trader Joe's French Onion Macaroni & Cheese to try as a side dish. We enjoyed it and you may wish to sample it. The package says it contains 2.5 servings but it should easily be enough for 3 servings as a side. Orchid, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania USA IMG 1270Canon PowerShot G11 CameraPhotograph by Roy KelleyRoy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Beer Recommendation: Poor Richard's Spruce AleOne of the very interesting selections of beer from Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia is Poor Richard's Spruce Ale. This might be the perfect ale to take on a camping trip. Click on the link to reach the website. Drink responsibly: 5% Alc. by Vol.Based on Benjamin Franklin’s original recipe, this one-of-a-kind deep amber ale calls for barley, molasses and essence of spruce. Locally sourced organic blue spruce clippings are steeped in a kettle to create an ale as approachable and engaging as the man himself. Orchids, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania USA IMG 1269Canon PowerShot G11 CameraPhotograph by Roy KelleyRoy and Dolores Kelley Photographs

Beer Recommendation: Yards Brewing Company Washington's PorterChef Dolores served sandwiches for our lunch at home. Our beer selection was Washington's Porter from Yards Brewing Company in Philadelphia. This is an easy beer to recommend. Drink responsibly: 7% Alc. by Vol. Click on the link to reach the website. Detailed in a letter from the General to his officers during the war, Washington’s recipe employed molasses to aid fermentation and give rich caramel aroma to this robust, roasty ale. The recipe reflected his admiration for Philadelphia-style porters, especially those brewed by Robert Hare. Our Porter, inspired by Washington’s, is dark, smooth and complex with just a hint of dried fruit in the finish. Orchids, Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania USA IMG 1268Canon Power...

Volunteers Sought for 2022 NOAA ‘Urban Heat Island Mapping Campaign’ Montgomery County has been chosen to take part in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) “Urban Heat Mapping Campaign” this summer. The County is seeking volunteers to use heat sensors mounted onto their cars as they travel their neighborhoods on one of the hottest days of the year. The sensors will record temperature, humidity, time and location. Neighborhoods involved will include about 200 square miles in Montgomery County, encompassing more populated areas like Gaithersburg, Germantown, Rockville, Silver Spring and Wheaton.“These local maps will help us identify where we can take action to protect vulnerable neighborhoods now and in the future from extreme heat risk,” said Montgomery County Ex...

AARP Weighs in On How to Choose the Best RealtorThanks to @Bob "RealMan" Timm and AARP for giving me the idea for this blog.  AARP recently published an article "How to Find the Best Experts", in fact, they have published several articles over the last couple of months.  Did you know that you can ask for a referral for an agent through AARP and you will be referred to an experienced and vetted agent with a Realogy Corporation agent in your area?  These include Coldwell Banker, Century 21, and ERA as well as a few other companies.  In doing this you could receive cash back after the closing of between $300-$7200 depending on the price of the home you are selling and the home you are buying.  If you are in Maryland and want to take advantage of this program you can simply ask me and I wil...

So just like that, the Real Estate market nationwide changed in a blink of an eye. Interest rates are now higher than they have been for 17 years. and it all happened in a 4.5 month period. January you could find a 30 year loan for 3.25%, today its climbing closer to 5.5%.So what does that mean for a buyer? With all terms alike, in January, when you could comfortably afford the monthly payment on a $600,000 house, now you need to look at homes that are priced around $475,000.What does that mean for sellers? Those buyers who were OK paying THOUSANDS over your list price because the rates were so low, they now have to look in a lower price range!!!It's going to be an interesting few months ahead. Out of the 15 active homes in 21228, the average "days on market" has increased from 7 to 16....
