National Pizza Day - February 9, 2023I don't know many people who don't like pizza.  Some are pizza snobs, who think pineapple doesn't belong on pizza?  When my youngest son was very small he was a very picky eater and would only eat pizza and broccoli, now he eats everything including pizza and broccoli!!So, what is your favorite pizza?  What are some of your favorite pizza hangouts? For me, it depends on where the pizza is from as to which is my favorite.  I like Greek Pizza from Pizza Bolis and also their chicken alfredo pizza.  I used to love olive pizza from Pizza Pizza in Canada.  Some of my favorite pizza haunts are:Rocco's Pizzeria - 7432 Ritchie Hwy, Glen Burnie - The Godfather Pizza is amazing1978 New York Pizzeria - 4315 Mountain Rd, Pasadena, MD - I love their lasagna, chicke...

Keep your pet out of the coldWith frigid temperatures during the winter, it isimportant to remember to keep your pets indoors. This applies to both dogs and cats. Granted, someof the thicker longer-coated breeds thrive in coldertemperatures and love to stay outside in the snow, butthey should always be given the option to come inside.According to city ordinance, all pets must have adequateprotection from the weather and have access to food andwater. A metal water dish in cold weather should never beused, as a dog’s tongue can get stuck to it. Water shouldbe checked frequently to ensure that it is not frozen. When the weather drops below freezing, a poorlyinsulated shelter may not provide the warmth neededto keep a pet safe. Being exposed to harsh weatherconditions for an extended period o...

This post was inspired by Debe Maxwell, CRS  to share what we love about our city. Since Los Angeles proper is 60 square miles consisting of many geographic communities (Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey, Venice, Westchester, Brentwood, Hollywood just to name a few) I can't possibly share everything without writing so much as to lose your interest, so I'll do my best to be concise!  To start, I've lived in many different cities and countries throughout my life.  Of all these, Los Angeles is the one in which I have lived the longest and there are many reasons for this.  When you think of Los Angeles, most correctly view it as a mini–United Nations, and it is very likely one of the most culturally diverse cities in America. Fortunately for its residents, one of the ways we can a...

When I got home, I decided to have a beer and my selection was Family Drama Imperial Pilsner from Flying Dog Brewery in Frederick, Maryland. If you enjoy Pilsners, this is a good one for your shopping list. It’s amazing the US 183 North Construction started January 26, 2022 and is already 24% complete. However, there is a long way to go to completion in 2026. Drivers can continue to expect lane closures, increased construction on additional lane closures, sidewalks, bridge widening and ramp work needed to connect with MoPac.This is a $612 million project covering 9 miles on US 183 between 45N/RM 620 and Mopac. There are two new toll express lanes and a fourth continuous non-toll lane in each direction being added.    They are adding and improving sidewalks and bicycle lanes along service roads and adding bike lanes along the US 183 North corridor. For those of us living in Northwest Austin this project addresses the traffic congestion and ultimately is expected to keep traffic flowing at pe...

If you owe the IRS money, you might be considering an Offer-in-Compromise (OIC) as a way to settle your tax debt for less than the full amount you owe. This is the so-called "pennies on the dollar" approach you hear in ads. While an OIC can be an excellent way to resolve your tax debt, it’s essential to understand that the IRS does not accept every Offer-in-Compromise that is submitted. In fact, the IRS rejects the majority of OICs that are submitted. The most common reasons for these rejections include: Compliance Problem - All of the returns due for the last 6 years have not been filed or the current year's estimated tax payments are not being made. This results in an immediate rejection of the offer. Ability to Full-Pay - The IRS has a methodology for analyzing a taxpayer's financial...

Salt Lake City, Utah - The next few Tax Tips will focus on innocent spouse relief. Married taxpayers usually file a joint tax return, filing a joint tax return creates ways for couples to save on taxes.  Prior to 1928, spouses were required to file separate tax returns.  It was not until 1928 that joint tax returns were allowed by Congress.  In 1938 Congress enacted what is call joint and several liability provisions for taxpayers filing joint returns.   Joint-and-several liability means that both spouses are liable for any tax liability associated with the tax return.  It does not matter who earned the income, the IRS can collect from either spouse.  It is common for a taxpayer to arrive in our office seeking relief from a tax liability that arose from a joint return filed with either ...

Somethings never get old and one of those things are rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.  I live about 100 miles from the Cape and love walking outside and watching the launches.  I have an app “Launch Console” which has some pretty cool features.  First is the “Countdown” that shows the next launch in days, hours and minutes.  Next is “Upcoming Missions” which describes what is scheduled for launch, another feature that is handy they have a live stream so you can watch the countdown and launch and in my case I have maybe 15 to 20 seconds to be in place to view and take pictures.  Finally, a compass showing which way you should look for the launch.  I have mine set for alerts so I know when I need to get outside. As a youngster, I remember watching rocket launches from Cape Canaveral on...
